What a pleasant surprise! I really enjoyed the art style, very reminiscent of Paper Mario, really fun. I like the combat, I like the audio, and the gameplay loop. The spice grinding minigame is too intense on the space bar, there's got to be a better way than mashing space bar a lot like that. I really like the idea of putting spices on a meat weapon to make it stronger, I cannot tell if each adding of spice is cumulative or resets every level. It bugged me that all of the spices looked exactly the same, and I didn't find an undo to put spices on my weapon. I love this idea, please keep working on it, great job
Hey thanks for playing! I have just been and watched the VOD of your stream to see how it went.
There is a lot we unfortunately werent able to include as this was the first game myself (coder) or the artist had ever made and time constraints meant we just couldnt get there after learning so much to get it in a playable state.
We do intend to take this further and make multiple levels and boss fights and with how much people enjoy it we may leave it on an endless loop even then. The intention is that the weapons are cumulative and a bit of work needs to happen on that.
Spices although different dont display with the correct sprite which I have since corrected so in the future you will be able to tell the difference as well as having the name under each one.
I agree hammering the spacebar isnt great, this minigame works really well on controller but on keyboard I think I need to make some changes so thank you for bringing up that point its really valuable.
Really appreciate your time playing and giving feedback!
I'm sure you've gotten a lot of improvements to make so I'll try and give one bit of advice...
You can adjust the frame rate of the run animation and add some more frames to make it look like the character is running across the floor instead of sliding
Really fun concept! Mixing pieces to "rub" on your "meat" (Weapon) ahahah, I like the hand-drawn art and the summoning grill. I find this hilarious in his own way.
And I love it haha. Gotcha there with the opening line didn't I? Seriously though besides the minor bugs of hitting the wrong button in the wrong menu there's some solid systems and mechanics in here.
I had a little chuckle at the rub your meat section, because hehehe my brain is a child apparently. The combat works well I just wish the enemies did something other than stand there menacingly doing nothing at you.
Would be cool to see this expanded and to actually build custom weapons with stats. I enjoyed the spice mashing minigame managed to almost fill it and got 13 bonus spice (whatever that means?) and 1 shot the enemies.
The hand draw artwork is super cute and I can imagine a lot of effort must have gone into doing that.
Genuinely fun little game that would be cool to see expanded on in the future.

Does it have bugs? Yes.
Do I like it? YES!

This game is an absolutely mess.

Like the art style, reminds me of paper cut-out stop motion videos.
I found a bug: You can run out of bounds on the right.
Thank you. The characters were actually hand drawn on paper.
Ah, I think I know why that happens. Dam I didnt test that. Thank you!
Due to time constraints and it being our first game we ran out of time to fix the following:
We plan to continue development until this becomes what we initially set out to make. This will include:
